PFI's Events

Today was concluded the last Course for Computer Beginners for the year 2009/2010. Seven persons received their Certificate of Participation for this Course. Five other courses were given during this winter season where almost fifty persons were introduced to computers and were given induction training for Word Processing, Internet, Emailing and Power Point applications.

Most of the participants have never touched a computer before and after a 10 session of 2 hours weekly they found out that they can handle these applications with enough proficiency as to feel comfortable to use it at ease.

Come September, another series of courses will be made available by PFI free of charge to those who apply for registration. Registration is open as from today, and participants will be allocated courses on first come first served basis.

This year's session of Literacy Courses for children with difficulties in the subject was concluded with a celebration of the Holy Mass at Dar Santa Katarina for the participants and their parents and an exhibition of the work done by the children during the year at Paolo Frerei Institute, Zejtun.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr Vince Magri, Director of PFI and the exhibition was opened by the Vice-Mayor, Ms Joan Agius. The voluntary teachers who guided the children through the whole session and the children parents attended together with the participants for the Mass and the Exhibition.

CoMin Europe Closure Meeting in Malta

Today, the CoMin Europe Closure Meeting came to its end, winding up this Project which was lead by Germany and included participants from Malta, Poland, Spain and the UK.

27 participants took part for this 2-day Conference which was held in a leading Hotel in Sliema. The particapnts visited the Marsa Open Centre and were shown the Hal Far Tent complex.

They visited the Malta CoMin Europe Exhibition at Auberge d'Italie displayed by the Malta Group of the Project.

The particpants were also taken on Cultural Tours to Valletta, the Hypogium and Paolo Frerei Instituta at Zejtun where they were treated with refreshments and typical Maltese finger-food.
